New website, New Challenges

A new website, new challenges and….new Blog posts! Let’s see how long I can keep this up for. I am no where near close to being a writer and hence my need to be behind a camera instead of putting pen to paper (fingers to keys these days). So where do we start – maybe by telling you a bit more about the person behind the camera? I am a born and bred Durban girl…more specifically, Hillcrest girl. I went to school at St. Mary’s and on leaving school studied at UKZN, where I received my honours in Psychology. At the time I was none the wiser that you needed masters to practise psychology and unfortunately didn’t get accepted to study my masters… so back to the drawing board I went and did a one year PGCE, which allowed me to teach high school children. After a few years of teaching, I decided that this was not for me – I did not have the drive and enthusiasm to teach. I also learnt a new respect for teachers who love what they do – creating new worksheets on a daily basis, preparing lessons using technology and teaching the youth of today. It is then that I decided to turn a hobby into a passion and took a huge leap of faith. We built a studio onto our previous home and at the same time I had Oliver (my older son) – oh yes the joys of trying to breastfeed your newborn while having builders sit on your lawn or breakdown walls. Why do we do this to ourselves? Thankfully someone was being kind to me and my business flew and I have never looked back! Seven years later I have now got a brand new studio in our new home and I have another son. Yes, we did it again we built our new home while I was pregnant and continued building after his birth. Noah is now eighteen months old (time flies). Thirteen years together and the support of my husband is unwavering. I could not have done it without him… he is the one who now brings me tea at 10pm when I am still sitting upstairs editing images and getting clients orders ready. I love my new studio and the opportunity it affords me to welcome my clients into a beautiful space where I can capture their treasured moments. Getting to know my clients and their requirements from a photoshoot is paramount. My business would not be where it is without each and everyone of my wonderful clients. So yes… in a very small nutshell that is who I am… nothing fancy… just me. new website, new challenges new website, new challenges new website, new challenges new website, new challenges
